¿Apartahotel o apartamento?

Ibiza Project

Ahotel or apartment

“Staying in a lively area of Ibiza, where you'll likely want to have activity, restaurants and atmosphere nearby, is not the same as looking for something quieter in Formentera, where the pace is usually more relaxed.”

“Nor do all the tourist apartments that appear online actually comply with the regulations.”

Ahotel or apartment: the typical question before coming to Ibiza and Formentera (and why it's worth choosing well)

It happens to us a lot. And when we say a lot… we mean a lot. Clients write to us saying, “We want something comfortable… but not a traditional hotel.” Or families who want more freedom during their vacation, but without too much hassle.

And that's where the same doubt always arises: Apartment or aparthotel?

Although they're sometimes used interchangeably, the experience is quite different. And the truth is, it depends a lot on the type of trip you want to take.

For example, some people greatly value having their own kitchen, going at their own pace, enjoying a leisurely breakfast at home, or improvising a simple dinner after spending the whole day out. In that case, both apartments and aparthotels can work very well.
But then there's the practical side. And that's where aparthotels usually score points.

Because you maintain a certain degree of autonomy, yes, but with amenities that are greatly appreciated during the holidays: reception, cleaning, the option to add breakfast, assistance during your stay... little things that make everything easier.
And honestly, even more so when you travel as a family.

Families often tell us they need real comfort, not just a nice room. Being able to quickly prepare something for the children, having more space, or not depending on restaurants every day completely changes the pace of travel.
The island and the area also have a significant influence.

Staying in a lively area of Ibiza, where you'll likely want to have activity, restaurants and atmosphere nearby, is not the same as looking for something quieter in Formentera, where the pace is usually more relaxed.

And then there's something important that is often not seen from the outside: the issue of licenses.

In Ibiza and Formentera, this is increasingly regulated, and not all tourist apartments listed online actually comply with the rules. That's why we always recommend booking legal and well-managed accommodations to avoid unpleasant surprises once you arrive.
In fact, a significant part of our work consists precisely of that: helping to filter. Because when you start searching on your own, among photos, platforms, and prices, everything seems the same… until you arrive.

At Ibiza Project, we offer a lot of help with this. Depending on the type of trip, budget, the area that best suits you, or even the style of vacation you're looking for, we guide you to find the option that truly makes sense.

Because in the end, it's not just about booking a place to sleep.

The aim is for the vacation to flow smoothly from the start.

And that, when you get the accommodation right, makes a huge difference.
