Ibiza Project
"An important part of our work consists precisely in helping to organize these details before arrival.”
“Although the two islands are very close, the way to get around each one is quite different.”
Getting around is also part of the holidays
There's a phrase we often repeat when we start planning a trip: you don't have to see everything, but it's definitely worth getting around. Ibiza and Formentera aren't islands where you can spend seven days on the same beach. Each cove has a distinct personality, each town a different rhythm, and every corner offers a new way to discover them. That's why one of the first decisions we recommend making is how you're going to get around during your stay.
Ibiza and Formentera are not the same places to visit.
Although the two islands are very close, the way to get around each one is quite different.
In IbizaA car is usually the best option. The island is much larger than it seems and allows you to discover very different beaches, charming villages, and restaurants away from the main tourist areas. Having a car gives you the freedom to be spontaneous and make the most of each day.
In FormenteraIn contrast, the motorbike is usually the star of the show. Distances are short, the pace is more relaxed, and exploring the island on two wheels is part of the experience. We only tend to recommend a car when traveling with children or when seeking greater comfort throughout your stay.
And the bicycle?
This is one of the questions we receive most often. The idea of exploring Formentera by bicycle is very appealing, and it can certainly be a wonderful experience. However, it's worth bearing in mind that it gets very hot during July and August, and the island has very little shade. For a short ride, it can be a great idea, but it's not always the most practical mode of transport for spending several days.
Something similar happens in Ibiza, although for a different reason. The island is too large to explore solely by bicycle during a typical holiday. However, outside of peak season, it's a fantastic destination for those planning getaways focused on sports and cycling tourism.
Planning is always better than improvising
A key part of our work involves helping you organize these details before your arrival. Booking your vehicle in advance prevents unexpected problems, allows you to choose the option that best suits your trip, and ensures your vacation starts with much greater peace of mind.
The same applies to private transfers. In summer, waits for taxis can be long, especially at the airport. Furthermore, if your final destination is Formentera, having a private transfer can make all the difference between catching the ferry on time and having to wait for the next one. Sometimes, good planning means gaining several hours of vacation time.
For the rest of your stay, it's also a very convenient option. There are areas of Ibiza and Formentera where finding a taxi isn't always easy, and public transport doesn't reach every corner. In those cases, having a private transfer or a rental car makes everything much easier.
A treat that's well worth it
If there is one experience that we usually recommend to those who want to discover the islands in a different way, it is spending a day at sea.
Renting a boat or inflatable dinghy isn't the cheapest option, but it's certainly one of the most transformative ways to experience a holiday. It allows you to access secluded coves inaccessible by land, escape the crowded beaches, and enjoy the Mediterranean from a different perspective. This year, with the reduction in sunbeds and umbrellas on some beaches, sailing has become an even more special way to experience Ibiza and Formentera.
At Ibiza Project, we help you organize all of this even before you arrive. Because choosing the right vehicle, booking a transfer, or deciding whether a day trip by boat is worthwhile aren't just logistical matters: they're decisions that directly influence how you experience the islands. And our job is precisely to ensure you can dedicate your time to enjoying yourself, not dealing with unexpected problems.
