The ancient heart of Ibiza keeps pounding at the medieval festival

Festivals and events in Ibiza: from 5 to 8 may Eivissa enacts its millenary history.

Every year, in early may, the medieval fair celebrate the past of the island; a fascinating event involving locals and visitors in a cheerful collective celebration.

The main venue of this highly anticipated appointment is naturally Dalt Vila, the fortified Citadel that dominates Ibiza town, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Founded by the Carthaginians in 654 BC, the fortress underwent the domination or the influence of Arabs, Romans, Greeks and Moors, and over the centuries underwent various renovation works, which today tells its story.

The 2016 Edition of the medieval festival offers 4 days of celebrations, during which the historic center will host some sort of big Carnival of colors, costumes, music and food with an antique feeling.

The entire area within the ancient walls will leave space to craft markets, street performers, magicians, witches, jesters, Knights, minstrels, trainers of falcons, flag-wavers.

And then, a number of culinary stands, concerts, exhibitions and performances, which will count on the participation of professional actors and musicians, both local and international.

The enthusiasm of the public for this event never decreases and each year, the festival draws on the island on average more than 50000 visitors from around the world.
